Park Lake Re-Opens!

Parks Lake recently re-opened that walking path around the lake!

We've been waiting and waiting for the walking path around parks lake to open, and when it finally did, we couldn't wait to get out on the path!

Who doesn't love to take the dog for a walk with an amazing lake as a view?! Park Lake is located in Rockaway, NJ! (Both Rockaway Borough and Township own it!) The walking path is 0.7 miles long and paved the whole way. It's perfect for a quick evening walk OR if you're like us and have a pup that need's lot of exercise, you can go around 2 or 3 times!

After our walk around the new walking path, I decided it was a perfect place to do some sensor training, leash manners, and leash reactivity training. There's plenty of places and room to pull off to the side to give reactive pups the space they need to stay comfortable and confident out in public! There's also grassy areas for obedience training breaks!

Brodie is FAR from perfect when it comes to his leash manners. He pulls...A LOT. He gets overly excited often. Sometimes over stimulated by everything around him. So an environment like Park Lake gives him the experiences he needs, PLUS the space for grace when he...gets a little too crazy. We do deal with a bit (or a lot) of leash reactivity, so space to be able to pull off to the side and let people (and especially other dogs) pass is such a benefit for us. Don't worry though, this is something we are working hard on!

We've LOVED using our Gray + Hound Collar and Wanderlust Leash! The 1.5" collar has been great for helping control Brodie when he gets too excited! Their designs are BEAUTIFUL too! Both are water proof-our FAVORITE bonus!
